Lotus Elise Series 2 Rear Clamshell - Lightweight for racing

We have now developed a replacement rear clamshell for the S2 Elise for both K Series and Toyota Engined cars . Our intensive process for tooling of the clam molds involved not just sourcing an original clamshell but stripping back and prepping the clam.
All the holes and cutouts are done in the factory and captive fixings and brackets are bonded in where required.
This lightweight clamshell is manufactured to the same high standards as our roadgoing clam but is made with much thinner GRP and no internal bracing. The race clam is less than half the weight of the original. There is no bootliner installed which accounts for a lot of the saved weight in this version.
The original clams are mass produced using a “vac assist” production method which is great for making large volumes of parts but results in a weaker and heavier product. These clams are entirely made by hand by us and the difference in strength and rigidity are very noticeable. OEM panels have a very high glass content making them heavier and more difficult to repair if damaged.
Uniquely we are also able to offer this in coloured gelcoat so for example if you have a red car we can supply it in red gelcoat. Future stonechips will be less visible!
We believe our replacement clams are the best available and are close to original in terms of fit and finish. Minimal preparation is required before painting and is normally limited to final prep around the “flash lines” that come as a result of our manufacturing process and possibly a small amount of final trimming. The clams can be fitted by any competent DIY owner or bodyshop with experience of Lotus cars. We trial fit headlights and indicators to ensure correct fit before shipping. Our clams are also single piece. We changed the production so that the clams are not made up from small individual parts (a cost saving method on the original parts) this again increases the accuracy of the fit.
